About
Japan is reimagining its role in the world, with energy and ambition. Its geopolitical weight is growing as it reinvigorates its diplomacy, strengthens its alliances, and enhances its capacity for innovation and cutting-edge research. The country’s economy is thriving and its cultural power is omnipresent – through film and music, video and gaming, food, travel, and sport.
Under the theme Ambitious Reimagination, the Year of Japan draws on Asia Society’s long history of engagement with Japan, dating back to our founding in 1956, to showcase Japan’s economic and cultural power, reimagined diplomacy, and growing strategic role in Asia and the world. The initiative also showcases the growth and impact of Asia Society’s Japan Center.
Over the course of the year, Asia Society will present a series of more than 50 cultural, policy, business, and family programs across our 16 locations in the U.S., Asia, Australia, and Europe.
We hope you can join us to celebrate the Year of Japan.
