Asia Society Hong Kong Center is proud to present a dialogue with Daniel Heyler, an award-winning technology analyst, to discuss the ongoing contest between the US and China over access to advanced technologies, in conversation with Ken Poon, Founding Partner of XCap Partners.
Sino-US tensions are increasingly focused on control of advanced technologies, especially semiconductors. Taiwan’s juggernaut chip fabricator, TSMC, dominates cutting-edge manufacturing, but its precarious position geographically stokes the drive for more onshoring and greater self-sufficiency in China, the US, and Europe. How will these tensions play out in the coming years? Can we expect more controls on technologies from the US, Japan, and the Netherlands, and will these controls be effective in thwarting China’s ability to develop more advanced technologies? Have SMIC and Huawei already exposed the limits of US abilities to stymie China’s chip industry? Join Asia Society Hong Kong Center as we tackle these issues and more.
